Kay: Hi from CheltenhamFound your pole review interesting. I hadn't realised QuePasa in Bristol had closed. The one in Cheltenham is still open and has a 12 foot pole. It's now run by Marstons rather than Eldridge Pope, so the atmosphere there is a bit less fraught. The othe venue in Cheltenham with a pole is Fever in Regent Street. The pole is a little short, a bit close to the wall and tends to rotate during spins, but stands over a magnificent retro colour changing illuminated dancefloor. Music on

Que-Pasa, Bristol

Location: Que-Pasa. Corn Street, Bristol. Again, this is a national chain and to quote their website:Que Pasa is a fusion of styles, colours and flavours…..whether you are looking for a fresh coffee in the morning, lunch with friends, a place to meet after work or a late night venue in which to dance the hours away……Que Pasa has it all.
So there ya go!

Music: A variety of chart pop, cheesy classics, and salsa style stuff when they do salsa classes.

Clientèle: During the day it's more like a restaurant - so a big mix of people. In the evenings you'll see people on the pull, people after cheap cocktails, people who should learn to dress their age, and townies.

The Pole: I understand that not all of the QuePasa poles are like this, but I'm reviewing the Bristol one:
The dancefloor is in a kind of hut, right opposite the bar, the pole is right in the middle of this space. It's about 7 1/2 feet high, but there is a large collar at the top which makes the last foot unusable. The pole is a nice thickness, but has a texture similar to a polished piece of scaffold. There's a mirror on the wall which is nice, but it's only on the top half of the wall.
On the times I've been in the QuePasa, either no-one's using the pole and every so often someone will egg their friend on to give it a go, or the dance floor will be packed and it will be hard not to kick someone if you try anything. You tend to see whole groups of girls all holding the pole at the same time, grinding. The floor is usually wet with spilled drinks too, but when it's not busy it's a good wide space.
Depending on the type of people there on the night, they will either be really impressed with pole tricks, or look at you in disgust (in a kind of "seen it before" way) for being a show-off.

Overall: The bar isn't the kind of place I enjoy to frequent, but I often find myself in there to use the pole and get some 2-4-1 cocktails. OH THE SHAME!
The real shame is that the pole could be so much better, if it was just a foot or 2 taller, I'd have a great time - I can cope with less-than-perfect pole surfaces.
Remember that they also run an annual pole dance comp with the chance of winning a car.
